Aston Villa is currently in talks with Sporting CP over a possible deal for midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is also being pursued by Liverpool and Chelsea. FootballTransfers has reported that Unai Emery’s side is the frontrunner for the midfielder, with Barcelona’s director of football, Alemany, potentially leaving his role to join Villa. Chelsea is also interested in Ugarte, but their pursuit of a new manager is holding up any substantial move. Liverpool has been in talks with Ugarte for the past two weeks, according to sources in Portugal. However, Villa seems to be the most likely destination for the Uruguayan midfielder at this stage.

Liverpool in for Thuram

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool is interested in signing Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach. The French forward is reportedly available for €60m, but the actual fee could be lower, possibly around €45m, depending on interest from other clubs. Thuram is expected to leave this summer, but a move for centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, who has also been linked with Liverpool, is considered unlikely due to his recent slump in form. Mason Mount and Alexis Mac Allister are also said to be among Liverpool’s main targets, as reported by other sources.
