Marseille head coach Igor Tudor has described Alexis Sanchez as a player “just behind” the very best in the world, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe. The 34-year-old forward has played for some of the biggest clubs in world football, including Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester United. His spells at these clubs have been mixed, but he has enjoyed a productive campaign at Marseille since joining on a free transfer from Inter in the summer of 2022. Sanchez has scored 17 goals in 40 appearances for Tudor’s side, helping them secure a return to the Champions League next season. Despite his age, the coach considers Sanchez a player of another level and irreplaceable due to his qualities.
Guendouzi backs Tudor over Alexis
Marseille head coach Igor Tudor recently praised Alexis Sanchez, describing him as a player “just behind” the very best in the world, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe. Former Arsenal star Matteo Guendouzi agrees with the assessment, stating that Sanchez is a world-class player who brings Marseille a lot of composure in the last 30 metres and does a lot of good with his pressing. However, some fans of Barcelona and Manchester United, where Sanchez had less successful spells, may be more doubtful of this assessment. Sanchez was recently injured in a match against Lens, but will be available for Marseille’s upcoming match against Angers, which they need to win to keep pace with Lens in second place in Ligue 1.
