Ilkay Gundogan has come to an agreement with Barcelona over the conditions of his contract.
While there is still a slim chance that Gundogan could extend his contract with City, a move to Barcelona is now highly probable. The transfer had been held up due to Gundogan’s salary demands, but he has reportedly agreed to a lower salary in exchange for a longer contract, which has satisfied the 32-year-old German in terms of his future earnings. Gundogan is expected to replace Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets, who will leave the club on a free transfer after 15 seasons. Barcelona has a history of utilizing the free transfer market, having previously acquired Manchester City stars Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia, both of which proved to be failures for the club.
